In this 3-part workshop, we will use a variety of threadings to produce a gamp that includes many treadlings and tie-ups. We will also imagine the effects on these structures of color and weave, and learn the basics of network twills. This is an opportunity to play with color and treadling, so don’t be shy!
There are close to 400 ends to be warped, so give yourself plenty of time to prepare. Check for threading errors before the first class.
Yarns: 10/2 perle cotton, in at least two colors (one for warp, the other for weft). You may choose to add stripes of contrasting color between the warp sections, in which case choose a third color (my recommendation). Warp and weft should have contrast in color or value. You will need about a half pound for warp, depending on the length of your warp. You are welcome to stripe your warp in any way you choose, and to use as many colors as you like in your weft.
Meetings: Wednesdays 11/6, 11/13, 11/20 5:30-7pm
PLEASE NOTE--We have very limited numbers of 8-shaft looms available to use for this class so please let us know if you have your own loom in the notes when you register for this class.
