Churro sheep are the oldest breed in North America, and historically provided the basis of the Navajo economy. After nearing extinction in the 1800s, they are now being reintroduced to Navajo and Hispanic communities through non-profits to bring back the breed. The fiber is strong and stands up to wear well, but it is also soft enough to be used in most garments.
