If you have been waiting for our more advanced crochet classes, the wait is over! This pattern is suitable for the advanced beginner making their first crocheted garmet.
This class breaks down parts of a typical crocheted cardigan into manageable portions with clear goals to meet so that if you stick to the schedule, you will complete your cardi on April 29th; our final meeting.
Students will crochet the back panel, two front panels and two sleeves. Then participants will seam their sweater together and create the trim. The finished and blocked cardigan is an elegant, yet versatile, closet essential.
While this cardigan pattern is written for sizes extra small to 3XL, we highly recommend that you crochet this cardi for yourself in your preferred size so we can talk about sizing and gauge adjustments accurately in class.
Skill Level and Prerequisites: Advanced beginner. Participants need to be familiar with basic crochet stitches including chain, slip, single crochet, and double crochet stitches. Participants should also know the basics for increasing stitch number in crochet. These are all stitches and techniques taught in the Beginner Crochet 101 and 103 classes!
- Participants should come to the first meeting with a blocked gauge swatch from their yarn to confirm that hook and yarn match the pattern gauge. Gauge swatch should be 14DC = 4 inches across. Row gauge can be adjusted, but please make sure your gauge swatch is 4x4 inches. We will discuss row gauge in the first session. *NOTE: If you use the Homestead yarn (aran weight), plan on reducing needle size by at least one full size!
- After confirming gauge; please come with one FRONT panel started in the Ribbing section and complete Row 1. We will start at Row 2 of the ribbing in the first session.
