Alex Martinez is back at Cowgirl Yarn!
This master Oaxacan weaver will be visiting on July 17th and 18th with a variety of woven traditional and contemporary Zapotec cultural treasures!
Hear him talk about his craft (including dyeing), see his incredible weavings, and purchase his work.
Nancy Martinez will bring the most beautiful woven purses this year!
This is an excellent opportunity to learn all about a family of three generations of master weavers from Oaxaca State, Mexico. You will learn about the production process, from raising the sheep to dyeing the wool, weaving, and marketing the rugs and other finished products.
Interested in the dyes used? All but a few of the dyes are from natural sources such as plants and insects, and Alex is happy to describe each step in the dyeing process taken to produce different color tones.
Please join us to hear the talks and see the fiber art of a family dedicated to reviving and preserving traditional indigenous Zapotec designs.
Investment: Presentation is Free!
Weavings will be available for sale, credit card, checks or cash.
