Taste of the Wind: Laramie Lopi

$30.00

Sold Out

Introducing Laramie Lopi- the Taste of the Wind Flock’s very first batch of yarn!

Born, grazed, sheared, and spun in Wyoming.

Snag your 3.5oz 100 yard hanks of Worsted/Aran weight yarn before they are gone! Could be knit to Chunky/Bulky depending on your gauge (or this is what Lori is hoping for)

This yarn is all-natural, un-dyed, 100% Icelandic wool from the Taste of the Wind flock of Icelandic sheep born and raised in Laramie Wyoming.

Lopi, is a traditional yarn very specific to the Icelandic breed of sheep. Because Icelandic sheep yield such long fibers, this yarn can be spun single-ply. rather than having multiple strands of yarn plied together like most shorter-fibered and finer yarns have. Lopi is a single, thick strand of yarn spun loosely into a lofty, fluffy, shiny, soft, and strong strand that (when crafted into garments) makes a durable, extremely warm, and wind-resistant garment that is a joy to wear.

We can’t wait for you to touch this yarn! It is incredibly soft and lustrous and knits up like fluffy clouds to create a wind resistant layer of lovely wool that I would argue is next-to-skin soft! This lopi is nothing like the commercial lopi most yarn enthusiasts are familiar with.

This yarn was spun in Buffalo Wyoming, at the Mountain Meadow wool mill.
