The Fernwood Studio

In April 2017, Lori brought a long-held dream to life. Built with heart, determination, and plenty of hard work, the Fernwood Studio was created to expand Cowgirl Yarn one more level — giving our fiber community room to gather, learn, and create together.

Located downstairs at Cowgirl Yarn, the Fernwood Studio is a fully equipped working fiber studio featuring five floor looms, eight table looms, two rigid heddle looms, utility sinks, a kitchenette, a bathroom, and even a top-loading washing machine dedicated to felting — plus so much more.

Many of our classes are held in this welcoming space, and equipment is available for monthly rental as scheduling allows. The studio is also available to rent for private events and gatherings. Rental rates vary depending on the number of attendees and the equipment used.

The Fernwood Studio is perfect for retreats, guild meetings, creative workshops, lectures, performances, and special events of all kinds.

It’s more than just a downstairs space — it’s a place where ideas grow, skills deepen, and community is woven together.

Blocking and Finishing
  • Because every handmade piece is unique, custom blocking is priced individually according to the size and detail of your project.
  • Prefer to block it yourself? You’re welcome to use the Fernwood Studio space and our blocking supplies for $5 per item.

  • We’re happy to answer questions and help you decide what’s best for your project.

Piece Repair
  • While we do not offer in-house repair services, we understand that sometimes a beloved handmade piece needs a little extra care.

We’re happy to share contact information for a few trusted repair experts in our community.

  • Repair work is arranged directly with the individual expert, and pricing varies, payable to the person completing the work.

Studio Space and Equipment Rental
