This romantic scarf, devised for the 2010 LYS Tour, was inspired by a clever piece our friend Candace brought home from Italy. Each one-skein scarf can be knit in simple stockinette or easy eyelet lace, then worn on its own tied in a variety of ways, or layered one inside the other for double-ruffle drama. Go for high contrast or soft, subtle shades. Oh, the possibilities!
Finished Sizes:
Stockinette: Approx. 5½"/14cm across x 34"/86cm long.
Eyelet lace: Approx. 6½"/16cm across x 33"/84cm long.
Yarn:
1 skein Rowan Kidsilk Haze (229 yds/210m) for each scarf or 229 yds/210m of an equivalent lace-weight mohair yarn for each scarf.
Needles & Notions:
US 9 (5.5mm) 12–16"/30–40cm circular needles, or size to obtain gauge.
US J (6mm) crochet hook for provisional cast-on.
Notes:
- This is a physical pattern.
- A 16"/40cm circular needle will work for this piece. You may find that the first few rounds feel a little tight, but things loosen up as you get more fabric under your needles. Some of us prefer to use the 12"/30cm circulars, although the needle tips are very short. As always, knitter's choice!
