Product Description
Alex Martinez is back and he is bringing something new.
This master Oaxacan weaver returns to Cowgirl Yarn on July 9th and 10th with a fresh collection of traditional and contemporary Zapotec weavings, crafted by Alex and his family. New designs. New colorways. The same extraordinary skill that has made every visit unforgettable.
Nancy Martinez joins him again this year with her stunning handwoven purses a highlight not to be missed.
This is a rare opportunity to meet a family of three generations of master weavers from Oaxaca State, Mexico, and learn directly from them about the full production process — from raising the sheep and harvesting natural dyes to the intricate weaving techniques that have been passed down through generations.
What to expect:
- Hear Alex talk about his craft, including the natural dyeing process using plants and insects to achieve each color tone
- See and purchase new weavings by Alex and his family
- Shop Nancy's beautiful woven purses
- Learn about the revival and preservation of traditional indigenous Zapotec designs
