Maybe you’ve always been curious about knitting, but fear has kept you from taking the first step… That’s okay!
Our in-person beginner knitting class is your gateway to this exciting world. This class is designed to empower you, and foster a sense of accomplishment to set you on the path to knitting mastery.
No prior experience is necessary, just a heaping helping of enthusiasm and a dash of gumption is all you need. (And of course your needles and yarn, but that’s a given right?)
In this 2-part series, you’ll learn all the foundational skills you need to bring your creative visions to life.
Our expert instructor, Lisa Mackey will guide you through every step, teaching you everything you need to know about the foundations of knitting:
- Casting on
- The knit stitch
- The purl stitch
- Binding off
- Seaming techniques
By the end of these classes, you’ll have not just one, but two cozy headbands. Perfect for warding off that Wyoming wind!

Here’s a rundown of the knitty-gritty:
Class Details:
Instructor: Lisa Mackey
Dates: 2 Saturdays – June 13th & 20th, 2026
Time: 10:30am - 12:30pm
Investment: $65 (includes 10% discount on class supplies)
Skill level: True Beginner
Minimum age: 18 years old
Required Materials:
- 200 yards worsted-weight wool yarn (The Plymouth Galway Worsted, Encore Worsted, Berroco Vintage or Ultra Wool available online or here at the store are the most recommended.)
- US Size 7 straight knitting needles
- Darning needle
Homework:
Super easy; we just need you to finish the rest of your first headband until it’s ready to bind off after the first session. (Don’t worry, if you run into any snafu’s you’re always welcome to bring it to the store for help between sessions!)

At least 4 students are needed to sign up for the class or it may be canceled.
