Our Begin to Weave class with our expert, in-house weaver Dorothy Tuthill, is the perfect starting point!

A four-shaft loom is a versatile weaving tool that allows you to create a wide range of patterns and textures. With this type of loom, you can manipulate the threads to produce intricate designs, from simple stripes, to plaids, and even to complex lace.

Whether you're a complete novice or a seasoned crafter looking to rekindle the joy of weaving, this two-day immersive workshop will show you the ropes of the process from beginning to end. 

This class will give you the practical skills and confidence you need to start your weaving journey.

  • Warping Basics: Master the art of preparing your loom for weaving.
  • Weaving Techniques: Learn essential weaving techniques from simple drafts to more complex patterns on a 4-Shaft Loom.

Dates: Saturday, September 26th & Sunday, September 27th, 2026
Time: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm (Saturday) & 9:00 am - 4:00 pm (Sunday)

Location: Fernwood Studio in the basement of Cowgirl Yarn
Parking: Participants can park for free in the First Interstate Bank parking lot down the street from Cowgirl Yarn during non-banking hours.
Max # of Students: 4

What's Included in the Class:

- 2 Skeins of Lamb's Pride worsted weight yarn (if you prefer different colors than what are in stock, please let us know by 9/1/26)
- The use of a 4-shaft table loom with 8 dent reed. If you are bringing your loom, please let us know.

Homework:

After the first class, you'll be able to take your loom home and work on your project, if not completed in day 1 of class.

Final Important Notes:

    Please read our Class Terms and Conditions and provide a phone number and email when checking out, so we can contact you if a last-minute issue arises.

    This class is intended for participants who have never woven before or who are interested in picking up the skill again after an extended period of time away from it. If you have experience in weaving, we'd suggest taking one of our intermediate weaving classes.

    Lunch is not provided. However, there are many wonderful dining options within walking distance. We also have a refrigerator, microwave, and stove if you prefer to bring your own lunch. 

    On Saturday night, you'll be able to take a loom with you to continue working. If you need more time to complete your project after Sunday's class, the store will remain open later, as needed.
