Learn to knit a cozy sweater with this easy top down sweater class!
Perfect for Intermediate knitters, this class from Robbie will help you master the foundations of raglan shaping, separating sleeves in a top down sweater, Make 1, and blocking a sweater. Under Robbie's guidance, you'll work the yoke in this top-down sweater before dividing out the sleeves, knitting the body, and seamlessly picking the sleeves back up for a masterpiece!
This worsted weight pattern knits up quickly and is clearly written for success. This wonderful sweater is a great opportunity to learn the skills for top down sweaters!
This class is designed for knitters who are confident with knitting and purling in the round. If you are unsure if this class is for you please reach out- we are happy to answer any questions and help make sure you're in the best class for you.
Here’s a rundown of the knitty-gritty:
Class Details:
Instructor: Robbie Feuerstein
Dates: Saturday May 2nd, 16th, 30th and June 20th.
Time: 1:30pm - 3:30pm
Cost: $140.00 (includes 10% discount on class supplies)
Skill level: Intermediate (must be comfortable casting on and knitting and purling in the round)
Minimum age: 18 years old
Required Materials:
- Step by Step Sweater by Florence Miller
- Universal Mystical Marl or similar worsted or aran weight yarn in adequate amount for sweater size chosen (738-1477 yards depending size for one color version. Reach out to the shop if you're unsure!)
- US 8 circular needles with 16” and 32” cords (24" cord helpful but not required)
- US 10 circular needles with 16” and 32” or 40" cords (24" cord helpful but not required)
- A note on circular needles: this pattern uses multiple cord lengths for each needle size. We recommend using interchangeable needles for this pattern. If using interchangeables, you will one set of US 8 tips, one set of US 10 tips, one 16" cord, and one 32" cord (24" cord optional) (It is possible to use the magic loop technique to avoid the need for 16” needles)
- Tapestry needle
- Stitch marker
- Waste yarn or stitch holders.
Homework:
Prior to class 1: Knit the collar of choice either funnel or folded neck as instructed in the pattern. We will email you a swatching guide when you register for the class.
Swatching should be done in the round to ensure correct gauge for the pattern. A helpful video on swatching in the round by Patty Lyons is linked here.
