Hog Island sheep are a rare breed of sheep originally bred on a 70-square-mile island off the coast of Virginia. The sheep were removed from the island to preserve native grasses, and are now only raised on a handful of private farms. They are a feral breed that naturally shed their wool if unsheared. Their fiber is high in lanolin.
