Simple Straight Skirt by Churchmouse Yarns

This is the first skirt Carol Lansinger designed for us. It's a favorite in her classes and amongst our staff. We like to wear it casually with legging and boots, or dress it up a bit. We show a sporty 16" length and a suit-ier 19" length but you can make it any length you like.

Finished Sizes:
Finished hip (actual measurement after seaming):
32 (34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 46, 48, 50, 52)" / 81 (86, 91, 97, 102, 107, 112, 117, 122, 127, 132)cm. 

Light Worsted Version:
Cascade Yarns Cascade 220 (220 yds/200m each): 3–5 skeins for 19"/48cm length; or 590–930 yds/540–851m of an equivalent 4.5–5 sts = 1"/2.5cm yarn.
Needles: US 7 (4.5mm), or size to obtain gauge. Two US 5 (3.75mm) 24"/60cm circular, or 2 sizes smaller than gauge size.

Heavy Worsted Version:
Jamieson Shetland Heather (100 yds/91m each): 5–8 skeins for 16"/40cm length; or 470–740 yds/430–677m of an equivalent 4–4.5 sts = 1"/2.5cm yarn.
Needles: US 8 (5mm), or size to obtain gauge. Two US 6 (4mm) 24"/60cm circular, or 2 sizes smaller than gauge size.

Notions (Both Versions):

  • Size I (5.5mm) crochet hook, for provisional cast-on.
  • ¾"/2cm non-roll elastic (waist measurement plus 2"/5cm).
  • Needle and thread.
  • Optional: Blocking wires.
