The Alpaca Yarn Co.: Easy Thrummed Mitten Kit

Thrummed Mittens are traditionally made with wool roving that is twisted into thrums that fill the inside of the mitten with warm fiber.  Each thrum is individually twisted and worked into the knit stitches in a pattern.  It is a time consuming task!  We have come up with a way to simplify the process of making thrums in mittens with our super bulky Paca Cinta ribbon yarn.  Thrums are made with the ribbon and tails are left inside to fill the mitten with warm alpaca fiber (in the form of a ribbon yarn).

We’ve picked some color combos we really like, but if you would like one of the pictured ribbons with a different colored yarn, just let us know and we’ll be happy to substitute it for you.
