Build on skills from our Begin to Weave on an Inkle Loom class and learn the Baltic-style pick up, which allows you to create a whole world of intricate inkle-weaving patterns. This technique is able to be learned in one afternoon, but students should have a basic understanding on inkle loom warping and weaving. What You'll Learn:

  • Warping Techniques: Build on the standard warp to prepare your loom for Baltic-style weaving.
  • Baltic Pick-Up: Discover the Baltic-style pick-up, which allows you to create endless intricate designs by manipulating the threads with your fingers.

Date: Sunday, April 19th
Time: 1 pm - 4 pm
Investment: $75 Teacher fee and $5 materials fee (paid directly to the instructor)
Location: Fernwood Studio in the basement of Cowgirl Yarn
Parking: Participants can park for free in the First Interstate Bank parking lot down the street from Cowgirl Yarn during non-banking hours.
Max # of Students: 6

Please Bring to Class:

  • An Inkle  loom*
  • 20 heddles*
  • Belt shuttle (a small shuttle with a beveled edge)*
  • A pair of small, sharp scissors
  • $5 cash materials fee, payable to Dorothy
  • Scotch tape
  • Dorothy will provide 5/2 perle cotton to be used for weaving

*Inkle looms and shuttles can be borrowed from the shop if needed, and additional heddles can be made in class. Please let us know prior to class if you will be borrowing a loom and/or shuttle or if you will need to make heddles so we can plan appropriately!

    This class is intended for participants who have experience with Inkle weaving and are comfortable with the basics of warping and weaving. If you have not woven on an Inkle loom before, please take our Begin to Weave on an Inkle Loom class prior to this course. We are happy to answer any questions and help find the best class for you!

    Lunch is not provided. However, there are many wonderful dining options within walking distance. We also have a refrigerator, microwave, and stove if you prefer to bring your own lunch. 

    After the class, you'll be able to take a loom with you to continue working. If you need more time to complete your project after the class, the store will remain open later, as needed.
