Tronstad Ranch Natural White Roving - Different Breeds
Product Description
These 100% Wyoming-raised wool rovings come from four different breeds of sheep- grab one of each for a fiber study, or pick the perfect one for your next project!
Tronstad Ranch, located just outside of Laramie, WY., is a family-run ranch that produces high-quality, natural fiber, roving, and yarn. The Tronstad family takes care of all aspects of our flock, including shearing, picking, and carding, to give you the highest quality wool. Fiber is treated without any chemicals, ensuring that you have high quality, 100% natural wool for all of your spinning, felting, and fiber art projects.
Tronstad Ranch's fiber has never left the state of Wyoming, and each skein of yarn or bundle of roving reflects the time, care, and tradition of our state's ranching heritage.
Tronstad Ranch offers four types of roving, each with unique qualities. Read about each breed and fiber type to decide which is best suited for your next project!
Long Wool: This Border Leicester wool has been selected for its extra-long staple length, allowing you to take longer draws when spinning- great for newer spinners! It "spins like butter" but can still hold its own in thinner yarns.
Rambouillet Cross: This wool is a cross between Rambouillet and Border Leciester. It combines the hardiness of Rambouillet with the slightly longer staple length of Border Leicester.
Teeswater Cross: This cross between Teeswater and Border Leicester wools benefits from both breed's longer staple lengths and minimal scales to create a hard-wearing wool that's plush and soft enough to be worn against the skin.
Border Leicester: Border Leicester's are the core breed at Tronstad Ranch. They have a long staple length ranging from 5-10 inches, allowing for long draws and a smooth, strong yarn.
