My First Sweater Top Down Sweater Class - October 2024

Only 2 left!

This class is a great opportunity to learn the top down sweater technique. It is the perfect first sweater project for the new knitter and a fun project for knitters of all skill levels. The pattern is a quick knit that produces a cozy, comfortable sweater just in time for the Wyoming winter to roll in. In this class you will learn the top down sweater technique, how to divide for sleeves, how to pick up stitches, simple increases, and the broken rib stitch pattern.

In the first class we will knit the collar and begin shaping the yoke. Finishing the yoke before the second class will be the homework.

In class two, we will learn to separate the sleeves and begin knitting the body of the sweater. You will be expected to complete work on the body of the sweater before the third class.

In the third class we will learn to to work the sleeves, including how to pick up stitches along the underarm, you will finish the sleeves at home. The class participants will have the opportunity to return to learn how to block their sweaters at a time agreed upon by the participants and instructor, there will be no charge for this extra class.

Participants need to be comfortable with knit and purl stitches, and know how to knit in the round. Prior use of dpns is helpful but not required.

Homework:  Students will need to knit a guage piece prior to the first class and obtain proper gauge. Students should come to the first class with the appropriate number of stitches for their size cast on to the size 15 needles.

Investment: $112.50

Materials: You will need the Beginner neck down pullover pattern,  Malabrigo's Rasta., circular needles 16" sizes US 15 and US17, circular needles 24" or 32" in size US 17 and size 17 dpns (double pointed needles).  Interchangable needles are very helpful for this project. We are looking for an alternative yarn suggestion. If you want to knit this sweater out of Rasta, please pick your colorway by Septembter 3rd, so we can order the quantity needed.
