Venture beyond knits and purls in this top-down textured sweater class.
Our 3-session in-person class will walk you through everything you need to know to create this beautiful piece, which features a circular yoke with a variety of different stitch patterns.
This class is designed for intermediate knitters who are very comfortable with knitting and purling in the round. Students should have made a sweater before, or should be very confident with knitting in the round and have some experience with varied stitch techniques. If you're unsure if this class is the best fit for you, please reach out and we will be happy to offer more guidance!
Our expert instructor, Lisa Mackey will guide you through every step, teaching you everything you need to know about top-down knitting and different stitch patterns:
- Dividing out sleeve stitches in a top-down sweater for a smooth finished project
- Slipping stitches
- Kfbf
- P2YO
- And more!
Students will start their sleeves in the last class and leave with all the knowledge they need to finish things up at home. There will be an optional blocking session for no extra charge.

Here’s a rundown of the knitty-gritty:
Class Details:
Instructor: Lisa Mackey
Dates: Sundays, September 28th, October 12th and October 26, 2025
Time: 1:00pm - 3:00pm
Cost: (includes 10% discount on class supplies)
Skill level: Intermediate
Minimum age: 18 years old
Required Materials:
- No Need to Panic Sweater by Casapinka
- Your choice of DK yarn or light worsted yarn in the yardage specified for your size, and for your choice of long or short sleeves. Lisa is knitting her sample out of Rios.
- US 6 circular needles in 16" and 32" lengths (or size needed to obtain gauge)
- US 6 double-pointed needles or 9" circular needles (if you matched gauge with a size other than US 6, you will need DPNs or 9" circulars in that size)
- US 7 circular needles in 32" length (or size needed to obtain gauge)
- Stitch markers
- Darning needle
- Scrap yarn for a lifeline
Homework:
Prior to class 1: Students will need to knit, wash, and measure a swatch piece to obtain gauge. This pattern is designed to be oversized, but that is not required. Read the sizing section of the pattern carefully and make your own decision about ease. Students should come to class with the cast on and six rows of ribbing completed.
Prior to class 2: Students will complete the yoke.
Prior to class 3: Students will complete the body of the sweater.
